Since 2005, The Allstate Foundation has been dedicated to ending domestic violence through financial empowerment and education for survivors. Financial abuse is present in 99% of domestic violence cases and it’s one of the main reasons victims can’t leave their abusive partners. To address this powerful and often invisible form of abuse, the Foundation has invested more than $67 million to empower 1.7 million survivors with the resources and support they need to regain their financial independence and break free from domestic violence.

The goal of credit.org is to provide a comprehensive online hub of personal finance education and learning resources that guide consumers in improving their personal finances. Their mission is to provide financial education to members of the general public and families and individuals in need. Financial education is the core focus of their organization and credit.org offers confidential and professional credit counseling, debt management services, bankruptcy education and housing counseling as well as online personal finance education and in-person seminars.
FreeFrom helps survivors achieve financial stability through advocacy work and their compensation program, credit building program, and entrepreneurship program. FreeFrom works with individual survivors to try to pair them with the appropriate resources in their state. Some of their programs have limited national availability, but you can contact them directly to find out what resources they can provide in your situation.
The Taxpayer Advocate Service
The Taxpayer Advocate Service is an independent organization within the IRS. Their role is to ensure that every taxpayer is treated fairly, and that you know and understand your rights as a taxpayer. Each state has at least one Local Taxpayer Advocate who is independent of the local IRS office and reports directly to the National Taxpayer Advocate. They offer free help to guide you through the often-confusing process of resolving tax problems that you haven’t been able to solve on your own. VictimConnect Resource Center (a program of NCVC)

The VictimConnect Resource Center is a place for victims of all crime to learn about their rights and options, confidentially and compassionately. VictimConnect can be accessed anywhere in the United States through a traditional telephone-based helpline and innovative text and online chat services Monday through Friday. Services are available in English and Spanish and interpreters for more than 200 languages can be accessed. Victim assistance specialists help people who reach out find appropriate national, local, or online resources. Additionally, victimconnect.org has information regarding types of crime, crime statistics, and maintains a searchable online directory for crime victim service providers.
