Legal Assistance
Included in this list are organizations that provide free or low-cost legal services to victims and survivors of abuse, as well as to others who qualify. Even if the organization does not have a lawyer available to represent you in court, you may want to ask if there is a lawyer with whom you can consult to obtain advice. We list the organizations by the county where the office is located, but many offices serve multiple counties. We indicate the “counties served” whenever possible. Helps to resolve disputes through mediation services for family issues such as divorce, paternity, custody, visitation, parent-child disputes, and more. If you have a protective order or stalking injunction in place, it must allow for mediation before a meeting can be scheduled. To open a family mediation case, you must pay a $35 fee online and complete the questionnaire. Services are low-cost or free, depending on income, and offered in English and Spanish.
