Legal Assistance
Included in this list are organizations that provide free or low-cost legal services to victims and survivors of abuse, as well as to others who qualify. Even if the organization does not have a lawyer available to represent you in court, you may want to ask if there is a lawyer with whom you can consult to obtain advice. We list the organizations by the county where the office is located, but many offices serve multiple counties. We indicate the “counties served” whenever possible. You can click “View All” to look through the complete list of organizations.

She Leads Justice, previously the Connecticut Women’s Education and Legal Fund, is a statewide nonprofit organization that advocates for and empowers women and girls in Connecticut, especially those who are under-resourced or marginalized. She Leads Justice provides information about the legal rights of women and girls as well as providing resources and individual support while navigating the justice system.

Statewide Legal Services of Connecticut (SLSC) is a legal aid advice and referral center helping low-income people in need of legal assistance. Services include: legal advice with questions about family law, public benefits, housing, unemployment, and other legal areas and referrals to legal aid programs or a volunteer attorney if needed. SLSC can only assist with civil law not criminal and is unable to assist with immigration problems. State Legal Services of Connecticut serves the state of Connecticut.
