Included in this list are organizations that provide free or low-cost legal services to victims and survivors of abuse, as well as to others who qualify. Even if the organization does not have a lawyer available to represent you in court, you may want to ask if there is a lawyer with whom you can consult to obtain advice. We list the organizations by the county where the office is located, but many offices serve multiple counties. We indicate the “counties served” whenever possible. The Robert and Sue Ellen Ackerson Law Clinic at the Brandeis School of Law represents clients in Emergency Protective Order hearings, divorce actions, and housing cases. The Clinic provides law students the opportunity to represent clients who are victims of domestic violence in Jefferson Family Court or clients who have forcible detainer (eviction) cases before Jefferson District Court. As such, the students are the primary contact with clients for all matters being handled by the Clinic. All student work is supervised by the Director of the Clinic. We do not charge for services performed through the Clinic.
