In Connecticut, any tenant who is a victim of family violence or sexual assault who believes that it is necessary to vacate his/her rental unit due to fear of immediate harm to the tenant (or his/her child) from the abuser can terminate his/her rental agreement without penalty or liability for the remaining term of the rental agreement. The tenant has to give at least 30 days' written notice to the landlord before the date s/he wants to terminate the rental agreement.*
