Included in this list are organizations that provide free or low-cost legal services to victims and survivors of abuse, as well as to others who qualify. Even if the organization does not have a lawyer available to represent you in court, you may want to ask if there is a lawyer with whom you can consult to obtain advice. We list the organizations by the county where the office is located, but many offices serve multiple counties. We indicate the “counties served” whenever possible. The San Luis Valley Bar Association Pro Bono Project holds Thursday Night Bar Sessions on the first Thursday of each month. At the sessions, volunteers are available for brief consultations on civil matters such as divorce, custody, landlord/tenant issues, and others. Individuals who need further assistance will be referred to an attorney or the self-help coordinator at the court. Sessions are held at the Alamosa Public Library at 300 Hunt Avenue. Serving Alamosa, Conejos, Costilla, Mineral, Rio Grande, and Saguache counties. The Pro Bono Project does not have a website (as of December 2024) but they do have a Facebook page with more information.

Offers legal advocacy services to victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking. Their non-attorney legal advocates can assist with protection orders, divorce and custody cases, safety planning, provide support in court proceedings, and refer victims to other resources they may need. They offer divorce and custody legal clinics in English and Spanish. Depending on availability and other factors, PSG may provide attorney services to eligible individuals for protection orders, divorce, custody, and other civil cases arising from their victimization. Family Tree’s Legal Advocacy Program provides legal services for survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking. Services include: civil and criminal legal advocacy, protection order assistance, crisis intervention, referrals, information, legal clinics, and more. Court accompaniment is available to Jefferson County residents only. All metro Denver residents can meet with volunteer attorneys or paralegals at the legal clinics for divorce, custody, and protection orders. The legal clinics are held twice per month, and one monthly clinic is held for Spanish-speaking survivors. Please call for eligibility requirements and to register.
