Project R.E.S.T., formerly the Safe Homes Rape Crisis Coalition, provides services to victims of domestic in Spartanburg, Cherokee, and Union counties, and victims of sexual assault in Spartanburg and Cherokee counties. Services include: a 24-hour hotline, emergency shelter for up to 60 days for domestic violence victims and their children, hospital accompaniment for sexual assault victims, police and court accompaniment/advocacy, counseling, therapy, case management, assistance in completing protection order petitions, and more.

Sexual Trauma Services of the Midlands (STSM) offers 24-hour crisis intervention through hotline and hospital response, crisis counseling, individual short-term counseling, group counseling, personal advocacy, and legal advocacy to survivors of sexual assault and abuse and education about sexual trauma issues to the Midlands. STSM also provides the survivor with emotional support and accompaniment throughout the criminal justice proceedings including (but not limited to) assisting the survivor in filing a police report, court accompaniment, assisting survivors with their Victim Impact Statements, and contacting law enforcement on behalf of survivor with survivor’s consent. These services are all confidential and free of charge. Serving Richland, Lexington, Newberry and Sumter counties.

YWCA of the Upper Lowlands provides 24/7 emergency / residential shelter and safety to domestic violence female victims and their children. Other services include counseling, legal assistance, limited transportation, childcare, and training opportunities for survivor self-sufficiency. Additionally, they provide services for individuals who do not need residential support: 24 Hour Safe House; 24 Hour crisis hotline; Legal Representation Program, Community Services, Victim Trauma Counseling, Victim Online Resources. Through the Legal Advocacy Program, court advocates can help with the following for free: information and assistance related to protective orders, assistance in filing paperwork related to custody, visitation, or child support; accompaniment to interviews with law enforcement and court preparation assistance. Information and referrals to other agencies and resources on the Midlands area also available.
