The Kent C. Withers Family Crisis Center provides emergency shelter for women experiencing domestic violence and their children. While at shelter, women receive on-site counseling and case management. Additionally, a 24-hour crisis hotline is available.

Knox Area Rescue Ministries - KARM focuses on providing basic needs such as food, shelter and safety for those in emergency need. KARM provides immediate emergency shelter for families, then works with other family service providers in the East Tennessee area to find additional resources.

The Knoxville Family Justice Center provides a safe place with caring and trained staff available to help victims of domestic violence and their children. Some of their services include: safety planning, danger assessment, assistance for order of protection process, prosecution, civil legal assistance, counseling, support groups, language interpretation, access to local shelters, access to emergency pet sheltering, employment assistance, short and long term housing, childcare & services for the elderly, individuals with disabilities and other special populations.

The Knox County Sheriff’s Office’s Family Crimes Unit is responsible for investigating incidents of domestic violence, child abuse, and elder abuse. In addition to investigating these incidents, the unit also provides immediate safety crisis counseling information and support to victims.

The YWCA empowers domestic violence survivors to take control of their lives, while offering them safety and the resources to ensure their self-sufficiency. The YWCA operates the largest emergency domestic violence shelter in the state of Tennessee. If you are in danger, need to speak with an advocate, have general questions about domestic violence or a specific situation you would like to talk through, please call the YWCA’s 24-hour Crisis & Support Helpline at 1-800-334-4628. Additional services provided include: 24-hour Crisis & Support Helpline, emergency shelter at the Weaver Domestic Violence Center (up to 45 days), one-on-one case management services, adult and children’s counseling, transitional housing, community support groups (English & Spanish), community education & outreach programs, financial literacy education and career counseling.
