Can a protection order be changed?

You or the abuser can file a petition to change (modify) the final protection order.¹ The judge will decide whether to schedule a hearing on the modification based on what is included in the petition. The person requesting the change must be prepared to present facts supporting the requested change at the hearing,² and the other party can object to the change or agree to it.
