Local Programs

Underground Railroad, Inc. provides services to victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, and human trafficking. Services include a 24-hour hotline, an Emergency Response Program, emergency shelter, advocacy (safety planning, transportation, financial resources, childcare, healthcare, court, and more), therapy (sexual assault, intimate partner violence, youth, and co-victim of homicide), support groups, housing assistance, youth advocacy and childcare, and community outreach and prevention. Underground Railroad also has an attorney (available through advocate referral only). The attorney may assist with divorce hearings, custody proceedings, and housing negotiations. Blue Water Safe Horizons provides services to victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, elder abuse, and homelessness. Services include a 24-hour crisis line, shelter and housing assistance, emergency advocacy, medical treatment, Forensic Nurse Examiner Program and evidence collection and criminal proceedings, counseling, and support groups.

Eva’s Place provides services to victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, and/or homelessness and their children. Shelter residents are required to participate in house meetings and weekly support groups. Clients are allowed a 2-week long stay; extensions are given on a case by case basis. Shelter services include a 24-hour hotline, safety planning, education, counseling, and advocacy. Eva’s Place Shelter serves Sanilac County.

Tri-County Safe Harbor, Inc. provides services to victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking. Services include a 24-hour hotline, counseling, support groups for women and children, information and referrals, emergency transportation, advocacy, and active support. Tri-County Safe Harbor, Inc.’s Manistique Office serves Schoolcraft County.

SafeCenter provides services to victims of domestic violence and sexual abuse. Services include a 24-hour hotline, emergency shelter, information and referrals, individual counseling and advocacy, basic needs (food and clothing), housing programs and assistance, legal advocacy, support groups, and prevention and education programs. SafeCenter serves Clinton and Shiawassee Counties.

Domestic And Sexual Abuse Services (DASAS) offers services to victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. Services include a 24-hour hotline, safety planning, safe shelter, counseling, support groups, personal protection order assistance, legal advocacy and court accompaniment, emergency medical services, transportation, financial assistance, basic needs (clothing and food), parenting skills assistance, information and referrals to other services in the community, Healthy Relationship Program for area schools, community outreach, and support and education for children who have witnessed domestic violence. DASAS serves Cass, St. Joseph, and Van Buren Counties.
