Local Programs

The Women’s Center provides services to survivors of dating, domestic, and sexual violence and stalking. Services include individual counseling, safety planning, assistance petitioning for a Personal Protection Order (PPO), information and referrals to outside sources, accompaniment to legal appointments and court hearings, and housing assistance. The Women’s Center Services serves Alger and Marquette Counties.

Sylvia’s Place provides services to victims of domestic violence. Services for residents include a 24-hour hotline, safe shelter, safety planning, food, clothing, and hygiene products, case management, individual and family counseling, housing referrals, and employment assistance. Services for non-residents include legal advocacy (PPO), Crime Victims Compensation assistance, domestic violence education, counseling, victim support, and court accompaniment. Sylvia’s Place serves Allegan County.

SAFE Place provides victims of domestic violence and their families. Services include a 24-hour helpline, shelter, counseling, legal advocacy (PPO), STOP program, public education, and supportive housing. SAFE Place serves Calhoun, Barry, and Eaton Counties.

The Bay Area Women’s Center (BAWC) provides services to victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. Services include a 24-hour hotline, emergency shelter, housing advocacy programs, court support and legal advocacy programs, children and teen programs, first response program, Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) program, safe haven supervised visitation program, and alternatives to violence programs (includes Batter Intervention Programs). The Bay Area Women’s Center serves Bay County.

Safe Shelter provides services to victims of domestic violence. Services include a 24-hour hotline, individual, group, and family counseling, shelter, basic needs (clothing, hygiene products, and food), and advocacy. Safe Shelter serves Berrien County.

The Branch County Coalition Against Domestic Violence (BCCADV) offers resources to survivors of domestic and sexual violence. Resources to utility, food, and housing assistance, health, employment, education and childcare services, parent education, and more are available on BCCADV’s website.

SafeCenter provides services to victims of domestic violence and sexual abuse. Services include a 24-hour hotline, emergency shelter, information and referrals, individual counseling and advocacy, basic needs (food and clothing), housing programs and assistance, legal advocacy, support groups, and prevention and education programs. SafeCenter serves Clinton and Shiawassee Counties.

River House, Inc. provides services to victims of domestic and sexual abuse. Services include a 24-hour hotline, emergency shelter, legal advocacy (accompaniment and explanations), counseling, referrals, children’s support group, employment assistance, long range planning, permanent housing assistance, budgeting, parenting and children’s services and support (one-on-one), and support services (food, clothing, and personal needs). River House, Inc. serves Crawford, Ogemaw, Oscoda, and Roscommon Counties.

Tri-County Safe Harbor, Inc. provides services to victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking. Services include a 24-hour hotline, counseling, support groups for women and children, information and referrals, emergency transportation, advocacy, and active support. Tri-County Safe Harbor, Inc.’s Escanaba Office serves Delta County.

SIREN/Eaton Shelter, Inc. (SIREN/ES) provides services to individuals and families who have become homeless or need shelter due to domestic violence. Services include a 24-hour hotline, emergency shelter, transitional housing, individual counseling and support groups, parenting groups, referrals to legal assistance, and help in accessing other needed resources. SIREN/ES serves Eaton County.

The Women’s Resource Center of Northern Michigan, Inc. provides services to victims of domestic and sexual violence and their families. Programs and services include domestic abuse, rape and sexual assault, counseling, children’s educational programming, education, career and employment, prevention, and engaging men. The Women’s Resource Center of Northern Michigan, Inc. serves Antrim, Charlevoix, Cheboygan, Emmet, and Otsego counties.

The YWCA of Greater Flint provides services to victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. Services include a 24-hour hotline, prevention education, Emergency Response Team (ERT), Sexual Assault Response Team (SART), victim advocacy (referrals to attorneys, do-it-yourself divorce workshops, assistance with preparing, filing, serving, and maintaining personal protection orders, assistance applying for Crime Victim Compensation, and accompaniment at court), crisis counseling and support groups, referrals to community resources, and prevention education. The YWCA of Greater Flint serves Genessee County.

Shelterhouse provides services to victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. Services include a 24-hour hotline, safe shelter, medical and legal advocacy and emergencies, housing assistance, financial resource referral, in-home advocacy services through the domestic violence housing initiative program, school registration, assistance with basic needs (foods, clothing, budgeting), prevention education and outreach, community referrals, and child, youth, and adult therapy. Shelterhouse serves Midland and Gladwin Counties.

Domestic Violence Escape, Inc. (DOVE) provides services to men, women, adolescents, and children who have experienced domestic violence, sexual violence, and/or stalking. Services include: a 24-hour hotline; emergency shelter; advocacy-peer counseling and crisis intervention, information about resources, employment assistance, education, transportation, housing, health, and more; support group; and legal advocacy-assistance with legal issues, referrals, information, PPOs, TROs, accompaniment to court, Crime Victim’s Compensation, and Judicare.

The Women’s Resource Center provides services to victims of domestic and sexual violence. Services include a 24-hour hotline, counseling and support groups, emergency shelter, transitional housing, information and referrals to community resources, and advocacy (Crime Victim’s Compensation assistance and personal protection order assistance). The Women’s Resource Center serves Benzie, Grand Traverse, Kalkaska, and Leelanau Counties.

Domestic Harmony provides services to victims of domestic and sexual violence. Services include a 24-hour hotline, emergency shelter, individual and group counseling (free childcare provided during counseling), children’s counseling, legal advocacy (assistance with the preparation of a personal protection order), and prevention education. Domestic Harmony serves Hillsdale County.

The Barbara Kettle Gundlach Shelter Home provides services to victims of domestic violence and their children. Services include a 24-hour hotline, shelter/crisis consultation, individual counseling, support groups, information and referrals to appropriate agencies, transportation, and legal advocacy (PPO assistance). The Barbara Kettle Gundlach Shelter Home serves Houghton, Keweenaw, and Ontonagon Counties.

Relief After Violent Encounter Ionia/Montcalm, Inc. (RAVE-I/M, Inc.) provides services to victims of domestic and sexual violence. Services include emergency shelter, support groups for residential and nonresidential clients, crisis counseling, children’s counseling, and advocacy (legal, PPO hearings, accompaniment to DHS, mental health appointments, medical appointments, schools, housing, and more). Relief After Violent Encounter Ionia/Montcalm, Inc. serves Ionia and Montcalm Counties.

AWARE, Inc. provides services to victims of domestic and sexual violence. Services include a 24-hour hotline, emergency shelter, a 24-hour Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE), children’s services, legal advocacy (PPO assistance, legal aid referrals), counseling, and visitation and safe exchange. AWARE, Inc. serves Jackson County.

The YWCA Victim Services provides services to abused men, women, and survivors of assault. Victim Services houses the Domestic Assault Program, Sexual Assault Program, Anti-Trafficking Program, and the Transitional/Permanent Housing Program. Services in the Domestic Assault Program include a 24-hour crisis hotline, counseling, advocacy, emergency planning, and housing opportunities. The YWCA Victim Services serves Kalamazoo County.

Lapeer Area Citizens Against Domestic Assault (LACADA) provides services to victims and survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. Services include a 24-hour hotline, emergency shelter, support groups, youth/children services, safety planning, legal, medical, and housing advocacy, financial assistance, accompaniment, transportation, employment assistance, and a teen dating violence program. LACADA serves Lapeer County.

The Catherine Cobb Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Shelter is a program of the Family Counseling & Children’s Services in Lenawee County. The program provides services to victims and families of domestic violence and sexual assault. Services include a 24-hour crisis hotline, shelter, case management, children’s programming, legal advocacy (PPO assistance), counseling, transitional supportive housing, support groups, and a first response team. The Shelter serves Lenawee County.

LA CASA Center provides services to child abuse survivors, survivors of domestic violence, and survivors of sexual assault. Services include a 24-hour hotline, crisis shelter, safe pet place, transitional supportive housing, counseling center, support groups, and legal advocacy program. LACASA Center serves Livingston County.

Turning Point provides services to victims and survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. Services include a 24-hour hotline, shelter, counseling and advocacy, Personal Protection Orders and legal help, children and teen programs, and prevention education. Turning Point serves Macomb County.

The mission of Communities Overcoming Violent Encounters (COVE) is to provide shelter, protection, and advocacy to victims of domestic violence and sexual assault, and to educate communities on the root causes of violence. Services include a 24-hour crisis helpline, crisis intervention, emergency response, counseling, support groups, emergency shelter, legal advocacy, and children’s advocacy.

Women’s Information Services, Inc. (WISE) provides services to victims and survivors of domestic and sexual violence. Services include a 24-hour hotline, emergency shelter, advocacy services, and domestic violence/sexual assault response teams. WISE serves Mecosta, Osceola, and Newaygo Counties.

Tri-County Safe Harbor, Inc. provides services to victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking. Services include a 24-hour hotline, counseling, support groups for women and children, information and referrals, emergency transportation, advocacy, and active support. Tri-County Safe Harbor, Inc.’s Menominee Office serves Delta County.

Shelterhouse provides services to victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. Services include a 24-hour hotline, counseling, safety planning, case management, shelter, adult anger management classes, legal advocacy, community advocacy, Domestic Violence Emergency Response Team (DVERT), DV and SA support center, child advocacy, forensic interviews, and Batterer Intervention Programs for men and women. Family Counseling serves Monroe County.

Every Woman’s Place provides services to victims and survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. Services include a 24-hour hotline, emergency shelter, crisis intervention, counseling, support groups, children’s services, and education and prevention. Every Woman’s Place serves Muskegon, Newaygo, and Ocean Counties.

Underground Railroad, Inc. provides services to victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, and human trafficking. Services include a 24-hour hotline, an Emergency Response Program, emergency shelter, advocacy (safety planning, transportation, financial resources, childcare, healthcare, court, and more), therapy (sexual assault, intimate partner violence, youth, and co-victim of homicide), support groups, housing assistance, youth advocacy and childcare, and community outreach and prevention. Underground Railroad also has an attorney (available through advocate referral only). The attorney may assist with divorce hearings, custody proceedings, and housing negotiations. Underground Railroad, Inc. serves Saginaw County.

Blue Water Safe Horizons provides services to victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, elder abuse, and homelessness. Services include a 24-hour crisis line, shelter and housing assistance, emergency advocacy, medical treatment, Forensic Nurse Examiner Program and evidence collection and criminal proceedings, counseling, and support groups.

Eva’s Place provides services to victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, and/or homelessness and their children. Shelter residents are required to participate in house meetings and weekly support groups. Clients are allowed a 2-week long stay; extensions are given on a case by case basis. Shelter services include a 24-hour hotline, safety planning, education, counseling, and advocacy. Eva’s Place Shelter serves Sanilac County.

Tri-County Safe Harbor, Inc. provides services to victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking. Services include a 24-hour hotline, counseling, support groups for women and children, information and referrals, emergency transportation, advocacy, and active support. Tri-County Safe Harbor, Inc.’s Manistique Office serves Schoolcraft County.

Domestic And Sexual Abuse Services (DASAS) offers services to victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. Services include a 24-hour hotline, safety planning, safe shelter, counseling, support groups, personal protection order assistance, legal advocacy and court accompaniment, emergency medical services, transportation, financial assistance, basic needs (clothing and food), parenting skills assistance, information and referrals to other services in the community, Healthy Relationship Program for area schools, community outreach, and support and education for children who have witnessed domestic violence. DASAS serves Cass, St. Joseph, and Van Buren Counties.

The Domestic Violence Coalition, Inc. provides services to victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. Services include a 24-hour hotline, counseling, support groups, community education, violence prevention education, personal protection order assistance, court accompaniment, and emergency shelter, transportation, and community referrals. The Domestic Violence Coalition, Inc. serves Van Buren County.

OASIS Family Resource Center provides services to victims of domestic violence, sexual assault and their children. Services include a 24-hour hotline, shelter, counseling, legal advocacy, parenting education, transitional and permanent support housing, education and prevention, and support groups. OASIS serves Wexford and Missaukee Counties.
