Bethany House Services (BHS) empowers homeless and at-risk families with solutions to achieve housing stability and long-term self-sufficiency. Provides shelter for desperate homeless families in need of help to achieve stable housing and income. Shelters meet each family’s immediate needs for safety, housing, food and other necessities. While in shelter, parents receive the resources and information needed to help them obtain a living income, organize a comfortable home, and provide a nurturing environment for their children. First Step is a healthy family resource center serving Wood, Wyandot, Seneca, Sandusky, and Hancock counties in Northwest Ohio. First Step Healthy Family Resource Center has provided shelter for victims of domestic violence and their children, 24-hour support line, advocacy, and outreach and support programs for men, women, and children.

The Shelter Program provides 30-day emergency stay for survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault and their children. The location is confidential, allowing for increased client safety during their stay. Any adult or child who lives or works in Hancock County and is a survivor of domestic violence or sexual assault is eligible to stay at the shelter with their immediate family. Open Arms shelter is the only one in Hancock County that provides immediate, temporary housing for survivors of domestic violence or sexual assault and their children 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. THe Domestic Violence Task Force for Clinton & Highland Counties provide survivor programs. These are available 24-hour a day and at no cost. Services provided by trained and certified staff to survivors of abuse, stalking or sexual violence. Additional services include: 24-hour shelter and crisis line, court advocacy, safety planning, legal assistance and licensed therapy.

The Huron County Victim Assistance Program was established to inform residents of Huron County of their rights as a victim, and to provide quality supportive services and information to those who have been affected by the criminal acts of violence. Other services provided: information and referrals to community services, information on case status, court accompaniment, notification of case status, assistance in filing for temporary and civil protection orders, crime victim compensation assistance, assistance in preparing to testify in court, support groups referrals and 24 emergency on-call hotline referrals.
