Forbes House offers survivors in Northeast Ohio emergency shelter from abusive relationships. We also provide a 24/7 helpline, legal and family advocacy, children’s programs, support groups and counseling for residents and community clients. All services at Forbes House are provided free of charge.

The Center for New Beginnings provides a 24-hour crisis line available for community members who may have questions or concerns about domestic violence, and for those who are in immediate danger and in search of a safe home for themselves and their children. Please call (800) 686-2760. Also, assistance with Civil Protection Orders and Stalking Orders and other support groups are available through the program.

Genesis House has Legal Advocates who work in the shelter and the Lorain County Municipal Courts to assist victims of domestic violence who have filed criminal charges against their abusers. Advocates explain the process and the victims’ rights and responsibilities in the case, as well as accompany people to court during their case or to get protection orders. Information regarding your rights, police and court involvements available through support staff for legal proceedings.
