Local Programs

Riverview Center offers free and confidential services for survivors of sexual violence in 14 counties of Northeast Iowa. Services include: a 24-hour crisis hotline, legal/medical/social service advocacy, counseling, trauma-informed therapy, transition and basic needs assistance, and more. This office of Riverview Center serves Black Hawk, Bremer, Buchanan, and Fayette counties.

The mission of Friends of the Family is to provide safe shelter, confidential services, and housing assistance to individuals in crisis due to domestic violence, sexual assault, human trafficking, and homelessness. Services include: confidential emergency shelter, re-housing program, homeless housing assistance, and employment programs. Friends of the Family has offices in Waverly, Dubuque, Mason City, and Waterloo, serving 27 counties in Iowa.

Family Crisis Support Network assists victims of domestic violence and their families. Services are based on an assessment and include: housing assistance, child care, personal care, and more. Serving Cass County.

Crisis Intervention Service provides comprehensive domestic violence and sexual assault services in North Central Iowa. Services include: counseling, legal/medical advocacy, hospital/court accompaniment, information and referrals, community education, and more. Serving Butler, Cerro Gordo, Chickasaw, Floyd, Franklin, Grundy, Hamilton, Hancock, Hardin, Humboldt, Kossuth, Mitchell, Webster, Winnebago, Worth, and Wright counties.

The Centers Against Abuse and Sexual Assault (CAASA) provides free and confidential services to those impacted by sexual abuse. Services include: a 24-hour hotline, crisis counseling and advocacy, ongoing counseling, support groups, shelter, medical and legal advocacy, victim transportation, school outreach and violence prevention programs, community education, and more. Bilingual services available. Serving Buena Vista, Calhoun, Carroll, Cherokee, Crawford, Dickinson, Emmet, Ida, Lyon, Monona, O’Brien, Osceola, Palo Alto, Plymouth, Pocahontas, Sac, Sioux, and Woodbury counties.

Family Resources provides free, confidential services to survivors of domestic abuse, sexual abuse, human trafficking, and other violent crime. Their services include: a 24-hour crisis line, shelter, rapid rehousing, counseling and therapy, support groups, medical and legal advocacy, safety planning, employment assistance, and more. Family Resources has offices in Davenport, Muscatine, and Clinton.

Crisis Intervention & Advocacy Center serves victims/survivors of domestic abuse, sexual abuse and violent crime, as well as those experiencing homelessness. Services include: a 24-hour hotline, emergency and transitional housing, legal/medical advocacy, safety planning, trauma-informed counseling, support groups, prevention education, court/hospital accompaniment, interpretation/translation services, and more. Advocates speak English and Spanish. Serving Adair, Adams, Clarke, Dallas, Decatur, Guthrie, Madison, Ringgold, Taylor, and Union counties.

The Domestic Violence Intervention Program provides support and advocacy services to victim/survivors of domestic violence, dating violence, stalking, and human trafficking. Services include: a 24-hour hotline, emergency shelter for victims and their pets, support groups, and more. Serving Cedar, Des Moines, Henry, Iowa, Johnson, Lee, Van Buren, and Washington counties.

Crisis Intervention Services provides advocacy and support services for survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. Services provided include: hotline, legal/economic/medical advocacy, temporary emergency shelter (in a scattered-site model), community education, support groups, and local referrals and resources. Services are provided in a mobile capacity in 12 Southeast Iowa counties: Appanoose, Davis, Jasper, Jefferson, Keokuk, Lucas, Mahaska, Marion, Monroe, Poweshiek, Wapello, and Wayne.

Catholic Charities Domestic Violence & Sexual Assault Program, formerly known as Phoenix House, offers services and support to anyone affected by domestic violence or sexual assault. They offer the following services: a 24-hour crisis line, emergency shelter, court advocacy, empowerment education, support groups, and outreach. The shelter provide safe, confidential living for up to eight families at a time. Serving Audubon, Cass, Fremont, Harrison, Mills, Montgomery, Page, Pottawattamie, and Shelby counties.

Family Resources provides free, confidential services to survivors of domestic abuse, sexual abuse, human trafficking, homicide, and other violent crime. Services include: a 24-hour crisis line, shelter, rapid rehousing, counseling and therapy, support groups, medical and legal advocacy, safety planning, employment assistance, and more. Family Resources has offices in Davenport, Muscatine, and Clinton.

Family Crisis Centers (FCC) helps anyone affected by domestic violence, human trafficking, and other violent crimes in Northwest Iowa. Service include: 24-hour hotline, safety planning, support at court hearings, help with medical appointments, child and medical advocacy, referrals, and more. They also facilitate access to emergency, transitional, and long-term housing. FCC is partnered with three area community health clinics to place advocates on site, offering a confidential way for victims to seek services. FCC can connect victims with the nearest advocate by calling the hotline. Serving 17 counties of Northwest Iowa: Buena Vista, Calhoun, Carroll, Cherokee, Clay, Crawford, Dickinson, Emmet, Ida, Lyon, Monona, O’Brien, Osceola, Palo Alto, Pocahontas, Sac, and Sioux.

ACCESS provides free and confidential support to victims of domestic and sexual abuse. Services include: 24-hour crisis line, housing advocacy, rapid rehousing, legal advocacy, community education, counseling, referrals and information, support groups and more. They operate a scattered-site shelter model in Ames, designed to alleviate the immediate housing needs associated with fleeing domestic violence, sexual assault, or other forms of violence. This shelter primarily serves Story County, with open spaces available to any victim in need as well. ACCESS has three offices: Story County, Marshall County, and Boone County. Serving Boone, Greene, Marshall, Story, and Tama counties.

The Family Crisis Center (FCC) provides safety and advocacy to victims of intimate partner violence in South Central Iowa. Services include: 24-hour crisis line, assistance with protection orders, safety planning, assistance with short- and long-term housing, counseling, legal advocacy, help changing/adding locks to doors and windows, assistance with understanding immigration laws as they relate to domestic violence, and more. The FCC also provides safe housing in scattered sites throughout its service area. Serving Appanoose, Davis, Jasper, Jefferson, Keokuk, Lucas, Mahaska, Marion, Monroe, Poweshiek, Wapello, and Wayne counties.

The Domestic/Sexual Assault Outreach Center (DSAOC) is a crisis-based shelter program serving victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, trafficking, stalking, and violent crimes. Services include: 24-hour crisis line, counseling, court/medical/child advocacy, safety planning, case management, basic needs, support groups, activities, transportation, housing opportunities, and more. Services within the shelter are all free of charge, confidential, and support the survivor’s ability to once again control their own life. Serving Boone, Butler, Cerro Gordo, Floyd, Franklin, Greene, Grundy, Hamilton, Hancock, Hardin, Humboldt, Kossuth, Marshall, Mitchell, Story, Tama, Webster, Winnebago, Worth, and Wright counties.
