The Lewis County Opportunities Victim Services program provides confidential services to crime victims at no charge, with special emphasis on domestic violence and sexual violence. Our services include 1) Temporary, emergency shelter. Residents receive counseling, legal and personal advocacy, information and referrals and awareness education. 2) Medical Crisis Intervention, available 24/7. An advocate will accompany the survivor to the hospital to be examined. 3) Crisis Therapy to victims of domestic violence, rape, incest, stalking, and sexual assault/abuse and their children. 4) Supportive Counseling for victims their parents, family and spouses. 5) Support Groups. 6) Advocacy - Advocates are available to link victims to legal resources relating to domestic violence and sexual assault/abuse, accompany victims to court, the District Attorney’s office, law enforcement agencies, the hospital, and assist victims in obtaining orders of protection. Advocates also assist victims and their children in obtaining services from other human service agencies. 7) Information and Referrals. 8) Help with filing Crime Victims Compensation Services claims. 9) Safe Pet Services - shelter is available for up to two companion animals (dogs and/or cats) to make it possible for a victim to leave an abusive relationship and not worry about taking his/her pets.
