Asian Family Support Services of Austin, or AFSSA (formerly SAHELI), provides assistance to Asian and other immigrant families dealing with domestic violence, sexual assault and trafficking. AFSSA’s specific programs include: The Survivor Assistance Program, which provides crisis intervention services, advocacy for legal and immigration matters, individual and group counseling and hotline services, hospital accompaniment, help applying for protective orders and making police reports, therapeutic counseling and basic needs such as safety planning, food and shelter. The Economic Empowerment Program, which helps survivors find employment and access education to gain independence and become self-sufficient. The Legal Services Program, which helps increase access to legal services for survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault and trafficking and providing direct representation in civil courts and administrative tribunals.
